The world may have changed as we know it but one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to taking fun seriously for the children and families we serve. Did you know you can still join our community of volunteers keeping the spirit of fun and the magic of camp strong through it all? With COVID-19 protocols in mind, SeriousFun Children’s Network camps are offering a number of different opportunities to get involved (both in-person and virtually).

We’ve rounded up a snapshot of current volunteer opportunities below. Take a look and see what you can do for a camp near you!

 

Camp Boggy Creek – Eustis, Florida

Camp Boggy Creek currently plans to offer a modified version of its family camp program, called Family Getaway Weekends, throughout the summer and fall months. You can find out about how to apply for in-person opportunities here and how to get involved with at-home opportunities here

In-person opportunities for Family Weekend Getaway programs include: 

  • Outdoor Activity Pals
  • Creative Arts Pals
  • Certified Lifeguards
  • Certified Archery Instructors
  • Medical Support (Nurses and Physicians)

Meanwhile, on-going at-home opportunities to support camp activities include:

  • Stitching (think quilts, afghans, Boggy Bears, and more)
  • Woodworking 
 
Camp Korey – Mt. Vernon, Washington

Camp Korey is offering both in-person and virtual programming for kids and their families starting this summer. Check out the list of exciting volunteer opportunities below and learn  how to apply here

In-person counselor opportunities include:

  • Summer Camp Counselors
  • Family Weekend Counselors
  • Family Day Adventure Pals

At-home counselor opportunities include: 

  • Virtual Family Weekend Counselors
  • “Out of the Box” Virtual Camp Box-Packing Counselors
  • At-Home Project Counselors

 

Double H Ranch – Lake Luzerne, New York

Double H Ranch’s in-person Summer Camp program will be back this summer at approximately 30% capacity. Double H Ranch is still looking for Session and Day Volunteers to provide in-person camp support. Session Volunteers will join a cabin for a full residential session and Day Volunteers will help make camp happen by supporting activity areas day in and day out. Please email lroden@doublehranch.org with any questions.  

Lastly, the Double H Ranch Facilities Team is looking for help from the community as they make numerous modifications to safely welcome campers for the summer season. Think improved ventilation, new spacious camper cabins, increased hand-washing stations, and an updated medication administration room to name just a few current projects. They welcome small corporate and civic groups to help with grounds maintenance and housekeeping! To volunteer, please email tjroode@doublehranch.org.

 

Flying Horse Farms – Mt. Gilead, Ohio

Flying Horse Farms will be hosting in-person Family Camp in two-day blocks this spring and summer. They’re on the lookout for passionate volunteers to make meaningful memories with campers and families. You can find out more about the below opportunities and how to get involved here

  • Activity Team Members
  • Certified Lifeguards
  • General Volunteers
  • Camp Creators (day helpers to get camp ready between sessions, both small and large group opportunities are available)
     
L’Envol – Paris, France

Do you speak fluent French? If so, and if you’re at least 18 years old and available for the duration of a full camp session, L’Envol is seeking volunteers for both in-person and at-home programming! 

This summer, L’Envol will be holding virtual camp programming from July 6 through August 31.  Volunteers will get the chance to help staff guide, encourage, and congratulate campers during online workshops. Learn more and apply here

L’Envol is also on the lookout for in-person volunteers to support fall camp programming. You can learn more and apply here to volunteer for one of the following sessions (note that all session dates include two days of training): 

  • Family Weekend (September 22 to 26)
  • Sibling Camp (October 23 to 29)
  • Family Camp for children living with disabilities (November 17 to 21)

Over The Wall – Hampshire, United Kingdom

At Over The Wall, Camp in the Cloud at-home virtual programming will offer campers a host of activities throughout 2021. As part of this volunteer counselors are needed to help bring all the fun and games to campers and families virtually. Roundup River Ranch – Gypsum, Colorado

Roundup River Ranch is offering virtual Camp Online programming in 2021 and they’re looking for volunteer counselors to help foster meaningful camp memories with campers. Whether you’re ready to be an online Cabin Leader helping facilitate virtual fun or take on another role, you can learn how to apply here

 

SeriousFun Partner Programs – Remote Opportunities

SeriousFun Partner Programs are locally-designed camp programs run in partnership with our friends at Worldwide Orphans Foundation, Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative, YRGCARE, Just Footprints Foundation, ASHA Foundation, Young Heroes, and New Hope for Cambodian Children in Botswana, Cambodia, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Malawi, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam. 

Past volunteers and volunteer groups have decorated camper welcome notes, donated craft supplies, and made friendship bracelets for campers. If you’re interested in donating your time or helping source gift-in-kind donations for these programs, please reach out to Associate Director of Partner Programs Mary Silvia at msilvia@seriousfun.org!

 

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp – Ashford, Connecticut

While in-person volunteer positions for the summer season are full, The Hole in the Wall Gang camp will announce Fall Camp programming on July 1. Be sure to check back then for opportunities to get involved!

In the meantime, Camp is offering virtual programs and remote opportunities to support programs throughout the year. Keep an eye on The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s website for updates on summer programming, year-round volunteer opportunities, and how to apply here.

 
The Painted Turtle – Lake Hughes, California

The Painted Turtle is offering a whole host of exciting volunteer opportunities, both in-person and virtual, this year. Read on for some details and learn more about each opportunity listed below here

Volunteers for Camp At Home programming can get ready to bring many of Camp’s beloved activities and traditions to life online, including arts and crafts, campfire, no-hands dinner, singing, dancing, and more. Sessions typically run from Friday to Sunday, and volunteers will also need to attend an online orientation on the Thursday evening prior to their session. 

The Painted Turtle is also offering limited Family Days at Lake Hughes. Onsite volunteer opportunities, such as Activity Pal roles, are available to those residing in Los Angeles County, or volunteers in California who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 

Lastly, The Painted Turtle will be accepting a limited amount of local volunteers to support their drive-through programming, Camp on the Move, which may coming to a California parking lot near you! Keep an eye on The Painted Turtle’s website for updates on dates and  locations. 

 

Victory Junction – Randleman, North Carolina

Volunteer applications for Vic’s Riders, the in-person therapeutic horse-riding program at Victory Junction, are now being considered. You can find out more and apply for volunteer positions with the lesson or equine program here.
