SeriousFun Children’s Network (“SeriousFun”) respects your right to privacy. We are committed to protecting your personal information.
WHAT INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE COLLECT IT
1. Information you give us
Your use of this SeriousFun site will require you to provide us with your personal information. The amount and type of information that you provide will depend on the ways that you choose to interact with our site.
When you register to attend special events, such as the Campfire Bash or Benefit Galas, we require that you indicate your level of sponsorship and monetary support, as well as your name, mailing address, Email address, telephone number, and payment information, including currency amount, card type, name on card, card number, security code, and expiration date. We will ask whether you wish to opt-in to receive news about SeriousFun projects and fundraising activities, and we will provide you an opportunity to submit free-form comments if you like, not to be posted publicly, but to communicate with our event staff.
When you use this site to donate to SeriousFun, we require you to indicate your payment amount and whether the gift is one-time or recurring. If you choose to donate by credit card, we require that you indicate whether your donation is to be kept anonymous and whether your donation is on behalf of an organization and, if so, the name of the organization; we will also require that you provide your last name, mailing address, and Email address, and payment information, including currency amount, card type, name on card, card number, security code, and expiration date. We will ask whether you wish to opt-in to receive news about SeriousFun projects and fundraising activities, and whether your gift is a tribute, the name of the person being honored or remembered, the name and address for a tribute letter if one is to be sent and any information to be included in the letter.
If you choose to donate using PayPal or American Express Membership Rewards Points via JustGiving.com, we will ask for all of the preceding information except for your payment card information, which of course will be processed on the PayPal or JustGiving websites and not our site, pursuant to the terms and privacy policies of those third-party sites.
Emails and Newsletters
You also may decide to send us personally identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing a question or comment, or by filling out a Web form that provides us this information. We use personally identifying information from email primarily to respond to your requests. We may forward your Email to other SeriousFun employees who are better able to answer your questions. We may also use your Email to contact you in the future about our programs that may be of interest.
We want to be very clear: We will not obtain personally identifying information about you when you visit our site unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. Except as might be required by law, we will not share any information that we receive from you, including your name or Email address, with any outside parties. If you sign up for one of our Email lists, we will only send you the kinds of information you have requested.
When you opt-in to be on one of our Email lists, we collect your first name, last name, and email address. In some instances we may ask for a physical mailing address should you express interest in recieving SeriousFun branded items or brochures.
You may refuse to provide such personal information, but that may prevent us from being able to register you for an event, to accept your gift, or to communicate with you, or to keep you updated.
2. Information we receive from passive use of our website
HOW AND FOR HOW LONG WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We may use your personal information:
- To process your request or your donation.
- To communicate with you about your request, comment, donation, or event registration.
- To keep you informed about SeriousFun events and fundraising activities, for as long as we have your affirmative consent to do so.
- To comply with our legal, regulatory, compliance, or auditing obligations.
We will retain your personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to carry out the purposes for which it was collected.
HOW AND WHY WE MIGHT SHARE YOUR INFORMATION
SeriousFun will not disclose your personal information to others without your consent to do so, except:
- To comply with our legal, regulatory, compliance, or auditing obligations.
We do not permit third-party advertisers to display their advertisements on our website.
VISITING CAMP WEBSITES AND OTHER THIRD PARTIES
Similarly, when you click on links to other third-party sites or web applications, such as when sharing SeriousFun information on your preferred social media platforms, you are no longer on our site. Please review the privacy policies of such third parties.
TRANSFERRING INFORMATION ABROAD
INFORMATION SECURITY SAFEGUARDS
SeriousFun has implemented commercially reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
We employ layered security in our systems. Only designated employees have access to hard copies of your personal information. All online transactions are processed on a secure server. This means that information entered on the transaction page (donation and community pages) is encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) before transmission.
Credit card information is stored in the Blackbaud Payment Service (BBPS), which integrates with Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) compliant versions of The Raiser’s Edge (our fundraising database) and Blackbaud NetCommunity (our web hosting and content management system). BBPS is a “cloud” program that makes it possible to adhere to The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Because credit card information is stored on BBPS, credit card numbers and data are not visible in any of our software applications. In each software application, credit card numbers are replaced with reference tokens. When credit card transactions are processed (for example, in recurring gifts), the software application connects to the BBPS. The reference token in the software application will summon the stored credit card number to be used in the transaction. Staff cannot access your credit card information at any time. Furthermore, Security Metrics monitors the security of SeriousFun Children’s Network’s servers and does routine scans to ensure our PA-DSS & PCI-DSS compliance.
All of our credit card transactions are processed by Blackbaud Merchant & Payment Services. A donation will show up on a credit card statement as SeriousFun.
You will also notice in your website address bar that the domain name starts with an “https” on our donation and community pages. This means that information entered on those pages is encrypted for your security.
If you have any questions regarding the security of your credit card donation online, please Email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 203.562.1203 for more information.
