Partners in Wellness: Abercrombie & Fitch Co. Boosts Mental Health Programs at SeriousFun
During a time when children’s mental health is increasingly recognized as a critical issue, a generous contribution by Abercrombie & Fitch Co. has allowed SeriousFun Children’s Network to take a significant step forward in supporting the mental wellness of campers and families.
Established in 2023, the Camp Mental Wellness & Health Grants Program has already made a substantial impact. Eight SeriousFun camps received $25,000 grants in 2023, benefiting over 9,600 individuals. In 2024, eight new grants were awarded to SeriousFun camps.
The program has enabled SeriousFun camps to:
- Introduce new programs for emerging mental health conditions
- Develop digital resources and create specialized support for young adults transitioning to adult care
- Implement programs that support the whole camp community, including campers, families, caregivers, staff, and volunteers
- Invest in staff training and facility enhancements, ensuring long-term benefits beyond the initial grant period
- Establish research and data collection practices to inform and improve mental wellness programs into the future
Some highlights to date include dedicated mental health camp programs for kids and families at Flying Horse Farms, the SeriousFun camp in Ohio, and a new program for children with severe social anxiety at Dynamo Camp, the SeriousFun camp in Italy.
