SeriousFun’s 2024 Gathering in Dublin sparked new ideas for reaching and supporting more children with serious illnesses. Discover how we’re evolving to create more joy for kids with serious illnesses.
In July, SeriousFun Children’s Network’s 2024 Gathering, Creating More Joy, brought marketing and outreach professionals from our member camps together in Dublin, Ireland to discuss how to effectively reach and serve more children beyond pre-pandemic models and evolve strategies to attract more supporters and interest.
Attended by a diverse mix of CEOs, marketing, development and outreach professionals from SeriousFun camps in the U.S., Asia, Africa, and Europe, the Gathering created space for camps to share challenges and opportunities while showcasing innovative outreach program models and marketing strategies across the Network.
A highlight of the event was an evening tour of Barretstown, where Gathering participants enjoyed viewing the camp’s state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully-equipped media recording studio and newly-renovated volunteer quarters, as well as dinner in the treehouse-like dining hall.
(And, of course, the group couldn’t miss the opportunity for a photo in front of the castle’s iconic red door!)
Other highlights included Visual Facilitator Eimear McNally, who captured the key topics discussed each day through a brightly-colored, graphic mural that she created in real-time, as well as guest speakers from accessibility and inclusive design agency Mima Group and youth voice engagement agency, Participation People.
The Gathering, Day 1 summary mural created by visual facilitator Eimer McNally offers a unique way for participants to reflect upon and recall key discussion points.
It was an exciting time for marketing and outreach teams to share best practices and to meet friends and collaborators, new and old. Cheers to “Creating More Joy” for children with serious illnesses together!
