“We are outside, there are nurses who are there to monitor just in case. We are free, we are peaceful. I don’t think about the illness, about things like that. My heart is more at peace.”
~Liloo
From the moment Liloo arrived at L’ENVOL, the SeriousFun camp in France, she encountered something she’d never come across before: a place where she could try things on her own terms, grow her confidence, and connect with other kids who understood her experience.
Now 15, she’s remained an active camper every summer since. And each visit has quietly deepened into something bigger than a week away from home.
Camp has become an anchor in her life.
Liloo lives with short bowel syndrome, and her medical needs are complex. Liloo is tube-fed and requires access to food frequently. To make sure that she could participate in camp activities fully, L’ENVOL worked closely with Liloo’s referring doctors, trained volunteer physicians, and adapted camp activities around her medical device.
Every detail was thought through, from discreet snack access to entertaining nursing moments, colorful costumes, and a festive atmosphere throughout—all of it so Liloo could laugh, explore, and join in like any other child.

This thoughtful coordination is more than medical care; it is an act of inclusion. By considering her needs with both expertise and empathy, staff and volunteers made space for Liloo’s joy to shine through, just as they do for every child.
Over the years, that joy has transformed into confidence. Once hesitant and eager to be seen, Liloo is now deeply proud of what she can do.
Staff at L’ENVOL marvel at her maturity, patience, and willingness to open up to others.
At each summer spent at L’ENVOL, Liloo rediscovers her strength and her spark—and continues develop into an empathetic leader. At SeriousFun camps, kids like Liloo can participate fully, on their own terms, while feeling safe and seen. Camp is where care meets creativity and where every small act builds something lasting: the belief illness should not stand in the way of a child’s joy.
