SeriousFun Children’s Network CEO Blake Maher shares how he finds the good even in tough times, inspired by the strength of SeriousFun campers. “I’m deeply grateful for the kindness, friendship, and community that define our SeriousFun family.”
Blake Maher Chief Executive Officer
In this difficult year, I’ve found myself turning to our campers again and again for inspiration. When times are tough and the chips are seemingly down, they never fail to find the good in life and hold it close. I’ve tried to follow their lead during 2020, using their resilience and optimism as guideposts when I’ve lost my way.
With our campers in mind—along with the fortitude they show even on the darkest days—I’ve listed a few things for which I’m grateful that can always be found in abundance at SeriousFun camps around the world:
I am thankful for kindness.
It has been incredibly heartwarming to see the outpouring of care that people have for one another—and for our campers and their family members. I am moved by the lengths people everywhere have taken to care for others in this challenging year.
I am thankful for friendship.
Camp is all about connection, and it is our connections to others that have brought such comfort and joy—even when it is through email, on a phone, via mailed notes, or across a computer screen. The spirit of camp lives in every expression of friendship we show.
I am thankful for this SeriousFun family.
This extraordinary global family of campers, families, supporters, volunteers, doctors, nurses and talented staff members is connected by a singular and very special mission. Together our family can make our days brighter and shine a light in the darkness.
In this season of gratitude, I want to thank you for your kindness, your friendship, and for being an important part of this SeriousFun family. We have so much to be grateful for.
I wish you and yours a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday!
As the health and safety of our campers, families, volunteers, and staff is always our top priority, we’re closely monitoring COVID-19 here at SeriousFun. To learn more and check on the status of upcoming or future camp and program sessions, please click here.
